Out with the Old, In with the New ; How to handle office electronic waste

Jan 9/23

Out with the old, and in with the new…or so the saying goes.

It’s a new year, meaning making changes, and letting go of what is no longer needed, including the old pile or collection of electronic devices in your office..

They probably haven’t been used either ever, in a while, or almost barely work.

The question is what to do with them?

Worry not, we’ve got you on that front. Try an overhaul!

Office electronics are often recycled, thrown away or haphazardly handled. How do we change that

Overhauls are common and underrated practices for the end of the year, especially regarding electronic devices in homes and offices.

By electronic devices, we mean a phone, laptop, microwave, blender, or something even bigger. You may be tempted to throw it, or leave it in the pile, hidden away for longer.

Or, you could try:

  • Assess the state or quality of it, and see if it can be refurbished (fixed up)
  • Still in that good quality? Keep it and re-use it yourself
  • Consider donating it to someone else you know who may need it (if in good condition)
  • Donate to a charity where someone else could find love and a home for it.
  • If you’re tech-device savvy, take it apart and create a fun DIY Project for yourself or the kids (there’s always something to be made out of everything around us)
  • Safely discard to a Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Company
  • Sell it for refurbishing,
  • Sell to a second-hand device store ( and earn a financial reward)

Happy New Year, here’s to a waste-free 2023!
